Intertek Launches Confidential Pharmaceutical Shared Audit Services in the UK

Intertek’s United Kingdom business has launched a shared audit platform for UK clients, following its success in continental Europe, the United States, China, and India. Pharmaceutical manufacturing supply chains are expected by regulators to comply with good manufacturing practice (GMP). This means that companies have to engage with their supply chain, including raw materials suppliers or contract manufacturers, to ensure compliance.

Suppliers and subcontractors are often audited by customers. Hosting repeated audits of their operations can be costly and time consuming. Through pharmaceutical shared audits, Intertek can help to facilitate greater collaboration between suppliers and manufacturers by making audit scheduling easier and reducing demands on all stakeholders by combining requests to audit a particular supplier site. For pharmaceutical companies, the shared audit concept directly translates into reduced audit costs.

Intertek’s shared audit online platform allows secure and confidential access to a real-time view of scheduled supplier shared audits, including those proposed and those already in progress. Launched in France 10 years ago, the platform has served more than 500 clients and been expanded across continental Europe, the US, China, and India. This latest extension introduces the same service to clients in the UK.
