West Presents Innovations for Packaging Challenges at CPhI Worldwide 2017

West will be showcasing its range of packaging components and drug delivery solutions, including NovaPure components, LyoSeal caps, and the SmartDose platform.

West Pharmaceutical Services, a manufacturer of packaging components and delivery systems for the pharmaceutical industry, will present an educational seminar on the value of plastic caps for injectable drug vial closure at CPhI Worldwide 2017, taking place Oct. 24–26, 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany. West will also be showcasing its range of packaging components and drug delivery solutions, including NovaPure components, LyoSeal caps, and the SmartDose platform. 

  • NovaPure components-components for higher-volume prefilled delivery systems designed using quality by design (QbD) principles to reduce particulate and ensure consistency of delivery.

  • LyoSeal cap-an all-plastic, instant-sealing solution for lyophilized drug products designed to minimize risk associated with established lyophilization processes while maintaining the necessary sealing requirements. 

  • SmartDose platform-A wearable, subcutaneous injector with an integrated drug delivery system that incorporates human factors and usability testing to deliver a truly patient-centric approach to self-administration. 

Sylvia Marzotko, senior manager, Global Product Management, Vial, Containment & Delivery at West, will present an educational session on industry trends driving the adoption of plastic caps as an alternative to aluminum seals in injectable drug packaging:

Oct. 25, 1:35–2:05 p.m.
Marzotko will discuss the growing market need for innovation in sealing solutions for injectable drug vials and present an overview of key assessment criteria for evaluating when, how, and where plastic caps can be a viable solution in current pharmaceutical fill-finish processes.
