Innovations awarded at Pharmapack Europe include improvements for patient compliance and protection from errors, tampering, or misuse.
Pharmapack Europe, organized by UBM EMEA, announced the winners for the 2016 Pharmapack Awards in a Feb. 11, 2016 press release.
Four Best Exhibitor Innovation Awards were given. The award for customization and user-friendliness was given to Biocorp for Easylog, an internet-connected sensor that attaches to an injection device to collect data and provide real-time information. The award for convenience and ease of use went to Eveon for its Intuity Lyo, an automated drug preparation solution that simplifies the number of components and steps for the users, and is suitable for chronic therapies requiring regular dosing. Injecto A/S won the award for efficient re-use and drug tampering prevention for its Injecto 0.5m prefilled, auto-disabled syringe. The award for patient protection and cost-efficiency was given to Pylote’s Pyclear Protection, which assists in preventing contamination without use of preservatives in pharmaceutical products.
Three Health Product Awards were given. Elanco & Neopac received the award for veterinary packaging and ease of use for its for its Twist’n’use Osurnia, a treatment for ear infections in dogs, which requires only two applications seven days apart. For compliance and convenience, Ethimedix SA’s Smartbottle was selected for its innovative controlled oral drug administration without risk of abuse, misuse, and diversion for the patient and the health care provider. Fresenius Kabi’s Levobupivacaïne Kabi freeflex bags won the award for safety of use. The bags color-coded system avoids errors, and the sterile addition port does not require decontamination.
