The company’s purpose-built facility in Norwich, United Kingdom specializes in plant-based expression of proteins, metabolites, and complex natural products.

Leaf Expression Systems, a contract biopharmaceutical development business specializing in plant-based expression of proteins, metabolites, and complex natural products, announced that its multi-million pound purpose-built facility on the Norwich Research Park, United Kingdom is now fully operational. According to the company, there is growing interest worldwide in its plant transient expression technology, Hypertrans. Hypertrans technology offers a solution to the financial pressures experienced by the global life sciences industry to lower the costs of new diagnostics and therapeutics, by providing an alternative way of rapidly and cost effectively producing proteins, vaccines, and complex biomolecules.

Leaf Expression Systems recently appointed Simon Saxby as CEO. Saxby has more than 30 years of global international experience in life sciences. His previous roles include being CEO of Stratophase Ltd and project director for the design and build of the UK Government's Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult commercial-scale GMP Manufacturing Centre in Stevenage.
