GSK reports no employee injuries at the facility and is assessing damage.
A GlaxoSmithKline factory located in Tianjin, China-near the site of an Aug. 12, 2015 warehouse explosion-was affected but no employees were injured, according to a company statement. The company has two facilities in the area.
The statement reports that the company has taken “urgent measures to ensure the safety of employees and their families, and to assess plant damage.”
GlaxoSmithKline (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. and American Tianjin Smith Kline Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. will jointly donate one million yuan ($156,00) to the China Red Cross and is ready to provide any drugs for the recovery effort, the statement reports.
The explosion in an industrial area of the port city has claimed more than 100 lives, with more than 100 people listed as missing.
