Gerresheimer Adds Ready-to-Fill Vials to Primary Packaging Portfolio

Article

The ready-to-fill packaging solutions for vials are based on Ompi EZ-fill packaging design.

Gerresheimer, supplier of primary packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, announced that it is adding to its portfolio ready-to-fill (RTF) vials. Vials that are ready to fill have been washed and sterilized and are provided in trays or in nests and tubs. These vials offer flexibility and reduce complexity because customers can immediately fill the vials without any further process. Gerresheimer and Ompi (a Stevanato Group Brand) have signed an agreement that allows Gerresheimer to use the Ompi EZ-fill packaging technology.

Vials are the standard primary packaging for parenteral drugs. Gerresheimer’s portfolio has vials in all sizes and that comply with international standards and pharmacopoeia requirements. The new Gx RTF vial portfolio will be based on already established quality offerings for vials such as PharmaPlus and Elite Glass. By adapting this knowledge to vials and combining it with the Ompi EZ-fill packaging solution, customers can source one identically packed vial from two suppliers.

Gerresheimer has been producing RTF glass syringes for more than 15 years and has recently launched RTF COP syringes produced in Europe.
