Fujifilm to Invest Over $2 Billion into US Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility

The new facility, which will be operated by Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, will provide large-scale cell-culture manufacturing of bulk drug substance with 8 x 20,000-L bioreactors.Fujifilm Corporation announced on Jan. 7, 2021 that it is investing more than $2 billion into a new large-scale cell-culture production site in the United States to fast-track the growth of its biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization.
The new facility, which will be operated by Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, a subsidiary of Fujifilm Corporation, will provide large-scale cell-culture manufacturing of bulk drug substance with 8 x 20,000-L bioreactors and with the option to add additional 24 x 20,000-L bioreactors, if needed, Fujifilm said in a company press release. Additionally, the site will offer commercial-scale, automated fill-finish and assembly, packaging, and labeling services and is set to be operational in the spring of 2025.
