Flow problems, such as process performance and reliability, can be improved using a combination of experimental and computational methods.

The combined use of experimental fluid dynamics (EFD) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods effectively identifies and addresses flow problems in the pharmaceutical industry.
Process performance an dreliability can be improved with application of this technology. This two-part article demonstrates the use of EFD/CFD with diverse examples including laboratory equipment (Part I) and production-scale equipment (Part II). Flow patterns, mixing structures and complex behaviour are all revealed with the combination of the EFD and CFD methods.
