Ross, Charles & Son added a custom 150-gallon Triple Shaft Mixer, the Ross VersaMix Model VMC-150, with elaborate automation and safety functions.
Charles Ross & Son Company has customized 150-gallon Triple Shaft Mixer, the Ross VersaMix Model VMC-150, with elaborate automation and safety functions.
Features include six pneumatic clamps rated for 4000 lbs each for remote locking of the mix vessel cover, which is designed for 29.5-in. Hg vacuum and 5-psi internal pressure.
The mixer also includes automated valves for powder feed and clean-in-place liquids, a resistance-temperature detecting multi-point temperature sensor, built-in vacuum pump assembly, load cell system, and a centralized human machine interface. The VMC-150 features a helical auger screw for submerging floating agglomerates. When reversed, the auger screw surfaces air pockets resulting in decreased batch cycle time.
Mixing Technologies in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries (Mar 2025)
March 26th 2025This white paper presents an overview of mixing technologies implemented across many of today’s highly competitive pharmaceutical and medical industries, as well as new equipment designs that are increasingly being recognized as potential solutions to prevailing mixing challenges. Mixing applications falling within the broad spectrum of mass produced pharmaceutical goods and medical devices are too many and complex to discuss in detail hence this paper will touch on a few general classifications as well as a few examples within that mixing category. Phase and viscosity are used as bases for classification.
Specifying a tumble blender for pharmaceutical manufacturing (Mar 2025)
March 26th 2025Tumble blenders deliver highly accurate and repeatable mixing of powders, granules and even low-viscosity slurries. In addition, this style blender enables complete discharge and easy cleaning. This bulletin presents some design considerations for maximizing mixing efficiency in a tumble blender and selecting the most suitable features for a particular application.
