CPhI to Host Korea Conference, Expand Korea Pharmaceutical Hub

Article

CPhI will host the CPhI Korea Conference to focus on the international nature of South Korea’s growth in exports.

New findings from the 2019 CPhI Annual Report show that South Korea improved its scores across “API quality,” “growth potential,” and “innovation,” with “overall competitiveness” rising by 9 percent in the last year, putting it on track to become a global biotech and pharmaceutical hub by 2025.

The data will be announced at the CPhI Korea Conference at the Seoul COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 21-23, 2019, according to a July 31, 2019 press release. The event will focus on the international nature of Korea’s growth in exports and will include sessions from the Thai FDA, the Japanese PMDA, the China Chamber of Commerce for Imports and Exports of Medicines and Health Products, and the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines. CPhI Korea is also working with the Korea Pharmaceutical Traders Association to promote a Meet the Expert Program designed to help international companies understand the complexities of the South Korean market.

“South Korea’s expanding generics market and changing regulations are driving more international companies towards local partnerships,” said Laura Murina, brand manager at Informa, in the press release. “One of the great added benefits of this event’s size and dynamics is that it allows attendees to have more in-depth and targeted meetings. The high quality of meetings means that they deliver a very high rate of partnership outcomes.”
