Capsugel Previews Sprinkle Capsule at CPhI Worldwide

Article

Capsule design was developed for patients who have difficulty swallowing.

Capsugel

is launching a capsule design to improve adherence to treatment regimens for patients who have swallowing difficulties. These patients include babies, children, and older adults as well as patients with medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis. The Coni-Snap sprinkle capsule is expected to be available in 2014.

Capsugel tested the new design with caregivers to gauge usability, ease of opening, and user accuracy when sprinkling medications. More than 80 percent of participants described the new design as "easy" or "very easy" to open, according to a qualitative survey performed by Capsugel in May 2013 in the EU and the US.

The Coni-Snap sprinkle capsule will be previewed at Capsugel's booth at CPhI Worldwide 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany (Booth #41G20) and the upcoming 2013 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition (Booth #2012) in San Antonio, Texas.
