The EcoPositive range, which comprises 50% of Bormioli Pharma’s current standard catalog and is composed of three distinct sustainability approaches, offers more than 3000 industrial solutions, in glass and plastic.
Bormioli Pharma, of Milan, Italy, plans to showcase a comprehensive range of plastic and glass containers for use by the pharmaceutical industry, along with relevant caps, closures, and accessories, in its home city at the upcoming CPHI Milan, the company announced in a press release on Sept. 26, 2024 (1).
Chief among Bormioli’s commercial offerings is EcoPositive, a low-impact, pharmaceutical-grade product range that the company said offers more than 3000 industrial solutions in glass and plastic that are already available on the market (1). The range is made up of three particular approaches to sustainability: recycling of first-choice waste collection, and the use of both renewable resources and infinitely reusable materials.
EcoPositive currently comprises 50% of Bormioli’s standard catalog, the company said. In addition, the company has introduced a new consultancy approach and created an innovation platform with the intent of capably partnering with the pharmaceutical industry and enhancing future healthcare visions (1).
“Our comprehensive and sustainable portfolio will take center stage at CPHI Milan, reaffirming our role as a trusted partner for the pharma industry,” Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Bormioli Pharma, said in the press release. “By introducing responsible solutions, driving robust innovation, and leveraging strong, data-driven consultancy capabilities, we are dedicated to making healthcare a positive, accessible practice for everyone while being mindful of our planet.”
In March 2024, Bormioli reported that its North American sales increased by 47% in 2023, which the company said was a result of its expansion in the United States with a commercial branch back in 2020 (2). An FDA-approved warehouse and dedicated product offerings have allowed the company’s US customers to streamline purchasing processes and reduce supply chain complexity. By 2025, Bormioli said at the time, it plans to achieve 50% sustainable raw materials in the pharmaceutical packaging products it sells.
That goal is the namesake of what the company calls its “50-in-5” strategy, of which it said EcoPositive is a significant contributor.
In 2023, the company’s percentage of sustainable raw materials in its products stood at 45%, according to the press release, a number which inched further forward to 47% in the first half of 2024 (1).
“Our momentous growth in the North American market embodies our dedication to meeting and exceeding the evolving needs of this dynamic market,” Lodetti said in response to the March report (2). “We are not just expanding our footprint but also enhancing our efficiency and adaptability. This growth aligns perfectly with our mission to provide innovative and sustainable pharmaceutical packaging solutions, and we are proud to say that our growth is not only robust but also responsible.”
Bormioli Pharma’s CPHI Milan exhibit will be at booth 20A2, at the Fiera Milano venue, for the duration of the event, Oct. 8–10, 2024 (1).
