Vetter’s Ravensburg data processing center received certification from a German industrial testing organization, certifying that the company’s customer and process data are protected.

Vetter’s new data processing center received certification from TÜV Süd, a German industrial testing organization, on Nov. 30, 2016. The organization certified Vetter’s new Ravensburg, Germany headquarters. According to TÜV Süd, the pharmaceutical service provider has fulfilled all criteria required to meet the European DIN EN 50600 standard. This certification signifies that sensitive customer and process data are protected.

Seven of Vetter’s information technology (IT) systems-related areas were screened including security systems, power supply, and the center construction. Vetter completed the new data processing center in January 2016, within the two-year period scheduled for the project. The company opted for an in-house solution to secure sovereignty and control of customer and process data.

The new center is integrated within a multi-functional building and covers approximately 3800 ft2. The data processing center includes IT systems including storage systems, network components, and flash storage technologies. In addition, an emergency generator is in place to supply electricity in the event of a failure in the public power supply. A back-up system has also been set up to secure sensitive data which are mirrored in real-time and stored daily in several locations that operate independently from one another. The data center is built with environmental considerations, including a special temperature regulation system that cools only the necessary areas.
