TriRx continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of the Elanco Animal Health Facility in Shawnee, Kansas.
On August 2, 2021, contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) TriRx Pharmaceutical Services, LLC, announced its acquisition of Elanco Animal Health Incorporated’s manufacturing site in Shawnee, Kansas. They also entered into a long-term supply agreement for the site.
As part of the deal, TriRx will receive the physical assets of the site and all of the approximately 300 employees that work there. According to a company press release, TriRx intends on eventually scaling up production and increasing the number of employees at the plant.
This announcement comes on the heels of a June 2020 acquisition where TriRx acquired Elanco’s Speke site in the United Kingdom. That deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2022.
“This acquisition is another step in our long-term strategy to deliver integrated capabilities in the Animal and Human Health markets to serve rapidly growing needs.” said TriRx CEO Timothy C. Tyson, in the press release. “At TriRx, we are passionate about delivering on our commitments to our customers.”
