StarTab from Colorcon was designed to ensure functionality and stability for direct compression tableting.
Colorcon has introduced StarTab, a starch tableting excipient designed for the direct compression process. The excipient’s particle size and shape are designed to improve flow and compressibility on high-speed compression machines; enabling formulation scientists to simplify tablet formulation and manufacturing, the company reports in a May 16, 2019 press statement.
The excipient also is formulated to enhance the stability of moisture-sensitive APIs.
The company reports that StarTab uses material that is accepted by global regulatory authorities, reducing barriers to adoption of the product.
