SAFC Launches SAFC Supply Solutions

SAFC (St. Louis, MO, www.safcglobal.com), the custom manufacturing arm of the Sigma-Aldrich Group (St. Louis, MO, www.sigmaaldrich.com), has launched a new entity, “SAFC Supply Solutions,” which combines its specialties business with the former Proligo Reagents’ manufacturing site in Hamburg, Germany. SAFC acquired Proligo from Degussa AG (Düsseldorf, Germany, www.degussa.com) in April 2005. SAFC Supply Solutions will provide organic raw materials for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and in vitro diagnostics manufacturers.

“The name ‘Supply Solutions’ more accurately reflects our ability to provide customized services around our extensive fine chemical and biochemical product range,” said SAFC president Frank Wicks in a prepared statement.

The creation of SAFC Supply Solutions is the latest addition to Sigma-Aldrich’s strategic plan, which calls for creation of several high-performing initiatives in its custom chemicals business to help SAFC achieve its goal of achieving sales of over $400 million and joining the ranks of the top 10 global fine chemical companies.
