Event Overview:
The webinar will provide participants the opportunity to learn about the integration of technologies and capabilities to take a Dry Powder Inhalation product development from early-stage development to commercial stage products. The webinar will present a range of options and discuss considerations for selection of various types of Particle Engineering, Formulation and Device platforms for Dry Powder Inhalation, supported in Advanced Analytical characterization methodologies of the drug product. Case-studies will be provided to support participants diving into specific examples of selected topics.
Key Learning Objectives:
1. How to select a Particle Engineering platform for DPI development
2. How to select a Formulation platform for DPI development
3. How to select a Device platform for DPI development
4. What to look for in performing Advanced Analytical characterization of DPI drug products
Who Should Attend:
Type of Companies: Large to Small Pharma developing Inhaled Medicines
Job Functions: R&D, Supply Chain, Business Development, Product Manager
Speakers
Beatriz Noriega Fernandes
Formulation Scientist
Hovione
Beatriz Noriega Fernandes has been working as a Formulation Scientist at Hovione R&D Drug Product Development Department since 2018, supporting the development and tech-transfer of particle engineering technology projects such as spray drying, jet milling and wet polishing, as well as formulation projects of inhalable clinical products ranging from low to high dose, from lab to industrial scales.
Beatriz joined Hovione in 2015 as an Industrial PhD Candidate in collaboration with Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, specializing in dissolution methodologies and in vivo/in vitro correlations for dry powder inhaler formulations.
Beatriz holds a MSc Degree in Biological Engine
João Pereira
Analytical Manager
Hovione
João Pereira joined Hovione in 2015 as part of the R&D Drug Product Development - Analytical Development group, where he worked on analytical method development for new drug products and drug product intermediates.
In 2017, João became lead analytical chemist supporting several development programs of drug product and intermediate drug product. Since 2019 he is a manager in R&D Analytical Development where analytical method development in the fields of physical and performance characterization are performed.
João Pereira holds a MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa (FFUL). He has previously worked in the pharmaceutical chemistry field in the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa) and in a quality control unit in Laboratórios Vitória.
