Electronic Batch Record Software Enables Paperless Manufacturing

Article

A new version of Siemen’s Simatic EBR software offers web-based master batch records and integration with automation systems.

Siemens’ Version 6.1 of its Simatic IT eBR [electronic batch record] software for the life-sciences industries enables users to implement paperless manufacturing solutions. A new, web-based master batch record module facilitates the management of key process parameters, and the software is natively integrated with the Siemens automation layer (i.e., the Simatic PCS 7 process control system and human-machine interface systems). The new version reduces the work involved in engineering and operation, helps users to enforce standardization, and allows a more transparent production process.

A paperless manufacturing solution enhances both efficiency and product quality, while at the same time bringing down risk and costs. Fully integrated communication is established between the automation level and manufacturing information technology. This integration enables complete electronic recording and documentation of quality-related production data, while eliminating time-consuming manual procedures and paper-based batch reports.
