As a result of disruptions caused by COVID-19, CPhI Worldwide 2020 in-person event will not be taking place in Milan, Italy, but instead will be a unique digital experience to connect the global pharma industry. The event changes were revealed in a June 30, 2020 press release.
According to event organizers, despite best efforts and belief that a safe and secure event would be deliverable on October 13–15, 2020, the differing stages of recovery from COVID-19 and the fact that CPhI Worldwide is a global event have led to the decision being made that the event in 2020 should be digital rather than in-person. Therefore, the event organizers have decided to transform the exhibition into a 10-day digital gathering, to be called the CPhI Festival of Pharma, which will take place on October 5–16, 2020.
“We have been working hard to make CPhI Worldwide in Milan a reality in 2020 but, with international travel only returning gradually post COVID-19, at present it is difficult to guarantee the usual quality of experience at what is a truly global event,” said Adam Andersen, group director, Pharma, Informa Markets, in the press release. “Recognizing the importance of the event to the industry, we have agreed with our key partners and stakeholders to adapt to a digital format in 2020, launching the CPhI Festival of Pharma. This large-scale digital exhibition will mirror on-site offerings and provide our community with a powerful platform to access vital one-to-one client meetings and high-quality leads, which are critically important in these challenging times,”
The in-person event is set to return in 2021. More information can be found on the event website.
