ChargePoint Achieves HazLoc Certification, Allowing for North American Expansion

ChargePont Technology has revealed that it is now able to expand its smart monitoring technology into North America thanks to being granted HazLoc (Hazardous Area) certification.

ChargePont Technology, a powder containment and sterile transfer solutions provider, has revealed in a Jan. 29, 2019 press release that it is now able to expand its smart monitoring technology into North America thanks to being granted HazLoc (Hazardous Area) certification.

Granted by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), HazLoc certification will enable Charge Point to grow its VERIFI-a smart monitoring hub-customer base to include North American manufacturers. VERIFI continuously monitors the usage of ChargePoint’s split butterfly valve, which is used to provide containment during the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, and is already available in the European market.

“Having seen the positive impact and excellent response to VERIFI in European markets, we are proud to bring VERIFI to North America,” said Chris Rombach, president at ChargePoint Technology Inc. “We can now give our customers more autonomy to improve operational performance and productivity, as well as helping them manage risk in their manufacturing processes.”

CSA granted the HazLoc certification for Class 1 Zone 0 and Class II/III Zone 21 after it had inspected ChargePoint Technology’s headquarters, located in Liverpool, United Kingdom, late in 2018. The company already holds Atmosphere Explosive (ATEX) and International Electro Commission (IEC) Explosive (Ex) certifications, allowing for VERIFI to be used in Europe.

“Our customer base in the North American market is rapidly growing, and we are excited to now be able to support existing and future customers with our unique smart monitoring technology,” added Adam Bunyard, director of innovation and technology at ChargePoint Technology. “As the industry moves towards Industry 4.0, ChargePoint will remain at the forefront of contained transfer innovation, responding to the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
