The expansion included adding new softgel encapsulation lines at its Strathroy, Canada and Sorocaba, Brazil sites for Catalent’s Vegicaps plant-based capsule and its CosmoPod twist-off capsule technologies.
Catalent announced on June 30, 2020 that it has completed a $3.2-million expansion program at its consumer health manufacturing facilities in Strathroy, Canada and Sorocaba, Brazil.
According to a company press release, the expansion included adding new softgel encapsulation lines at each site for Catalent’s Vegicaps plant-based capsule and its CosmoPod twist-off capsule technologies. Now, the company will be able to support its customers in North and Latin America looking to develop all-natural and plant-based vitamins, minerals, and supplements.
“We have seen increased consumer demand for greater product choice, with sales of plant-based softgel technologies growing by more than 25% globally in recent years. Additionally, Brazil has grown to become the world’s fourth-largest market for beauty care products,” said Dr. Aris Gennadios, president, Softgel and Oral Technologies, Catalent, in the press release. “While we have been supplying the North and Latin American markets with plant-based softgel capsules from our manufacturing sites in Italy and Germany, this investment allows us to provide local supply solutions to markets that complement existing capabilities in Europe.”
